I almost hiked Laurel Mountain. I didn't reach the summit mostly because my new hiking boots were hurting my ankle. I've only worn them a few times and they've all been painful. I didn't remember this because I haven't been hiking in a while.
I was doing fine on the trail section up to the saddle between Laurel and Bloody. But after I started up the steep talus slope, the pain began. So I decided I'd rather do something less painful. I can always return with better boots.
I made it to 11,050 feet. High enough to remember the joys of high altitude hiking. Here are a few photos. It was a great morning for hiking (except for the howling wind).
